19 Year Old Arrested After Assaulting Woman Then Stealing Truck

The Cocke County Sheriff’s office responded to a domestic assault on Bogard Road Friday, July 26, that involved a loaded handgun. The victim stated that 19 year old Ivan Shults had assualted her inside the home in addition to firing a shot through a bedroom wall while she was in the hallway. When she attempted to call police, Shults knocked the phone out of her hand and pulled her out of a chair. He then destroyed the home phone and took her cell phone so she could not call for help. The victim saidf that Shults then left the home with her truck.
Shults was later found driving the stolen truck on Hartford Road. He was pulled over and ordered from the truck at gunpoint. Shults complied with deputies’ commands and was taken into custody. Inside the truck deputies found a loaded Walther 9mm pistol. Shults is now charged with numerous felonies. They include Aggravated Robbery, Reckless Endangerment With A Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault and Theft Of Property Over $1,000.
