Deputies Find Wanted Man Hiding Under House
Two men wanted on outstanding warrants were arrested in Cocke County earlier this week at a home on Cosby Highway. The owner of those home on Cosby Hwy near Greasy Cove Road told the sheriff’s office that a man in a black Honda, who did not live at the residence and had no reason to be there, looked suspicious. Deputies arrived and found the black Honda unoccupied. They spotted two male subjects outside a home across the highway.
The two men were 42 year old Jason Cureton and 49 year old Steven Ball, the owner of the black Honda. Ball went into the residence as deputies approached. Cureton was found to have active warrants and was taken into custody without incident. Deputies got permission from a woman inside the home to search for Ball. Deputies searched the interior of the residence but could not find him. Upon searching the exterior of the home, deputies located an area under the house that was easily accessible. When they searched that area, Steven Ball was hiding underneath the home directly below where the deputies had entered the residence. Ball was taken into custody for his outstanding warrant, but because he hid from police, he now faces a charge of Evading Arrest, which is a felony in the state of Tennessee.
