Newport Chief of Police Scott Lamb took to social media to address rumors concerning the death of a woman in a Newport apartment complex. Rumors have been swirling on social media that a woman had been stabbed to death at the Newport Village Apartments. Chief Lamb says that a woman was indeed found deceased in an apartment, but there is nothing at this time that leads investigators to believe that foul play was involved. The woman’s body has been sent to the Forensic Center in Knoxville to undergo an autopsy to determine the next cause of death. Chief Lamb says he hopes this information will quell the anxiety and misinformation that has been spreading on social media about this case.
