Deputy Injured In Search For Wanted Suspect
A Cocke County Sheriff’s deputy was injured this week during a search for wanted suspect Drury Whitlock. According to Sheriff CJ Ball, deputies had been searching for Whitlock this week and actually located him in the area of Blue Mill Road. Officers then chased Whitlock and during that pursuit, a deputy was running across a bridge, when the side of the bridge broke away. That caused the deputy to fall approximately 14 feet down into a creek where he landed on a rock. Deputies and Detectives on scene administered first aid to the officer, who was then transported to the Newport Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
Deputies are continuing to search for Drury Whitlock whose last known location was on Midway Road in the Del Rio Community. Whitlock is wanted for theft over $1,000 but has other charges pending against him in Cocke County. He is a white male, 5’8″, 155 lbs., and currently has his hair dyed pink. Anyone who spots Drury Whitlock should not approach him, but instead call 911.
