Two Arrested In Sevierville After Leaving Dog In Hot Car
Two people were arrested in Sevier County over the weekend after leaving a dog in a hot car. Police in Sevierville say that Kaitlynn Breiner and Jose Martinez walked into the Wal-Mart in Sevierville Saturday and left their dog in the car with the windows barely cracked. The dog was spotted by police officers and was in distress because of getting overheated. There was no water in the vehicle for the dog. Officers were able to get into the car and rescue the dog, putting it in one of the police crusiers in the air conditioning.
Breiner and Martinez were arrested as they came out of the store and went to get in their car. The pair were in the store for approximately 40 minutes. They have been charged with Cruelty To Animals. The dog was taken to the Sevier County Animal Shelter.
With the kind of heat we had on Saturday, temperatures in a closed vehicle can get as high as 130 degrees quickly and that can be deadly.
