Truck Brakes Fail Hits Power Pole

Newport police responded to a one vehicle accident Monday evening on Seabrook Street. The driver of the Ford F250 pickup, Cecilia Hopkins told police that as she was backing out if her driveway, the brakes failed in the truck and it went backwards down a hill and struck a power pole. Power lines then fell onto the roadway. Newport Utilities was called to fix the power pole and power lines. The Ford F250 suffered damage to the driver side rear bumper and tailgate, but the driver was not injured.
