Jefferson County Man Charged With Human Trafficking In Georgia

A Dandridge man has been taken into custody for a warrant issued in the state of Georgia. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office says they were notified earlier this week by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation that 54 year old Vaughn Dewayne Scarborough was wanted in Whitfield County, Georgia for criminal attempt and human trafficking.

Scarborough was found at his residence on Meadow Wood Circle in Dandridge placed into custody. At the time of his arrest, Scarborough had in his possession a baggy with a crystal like substance suspected to be methamphetamine. Scarborough is currently being held in the Jefferson County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Whitfield County, Georgia, which is in the northwest portion of the state.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office says predators are using social media platforms to pursue victims, so it is imperative you understand the risk and educate yourself on social media platforms your children may be using. You should be monitoring what platforms they are using and researching their capabilities. Some platforms reveal the location of the user which would allow a predator to know your child’s location by tracking the device they are using.
