CCEMA Launches “Operation Jammies & Jackets”
The cold weather we had earlier this week gave us a glimpse of what can be expected this winter. The Cocke County Emergency Management Agency is responding with “Operation Jammies & Jackets” to make sure that Cocke County youth has something warm to wear at night and then the next day when they head to school. “Operation Jammies & Jackets” is being activated in conjunction with the Newport Grammar School, Cocke County Schools, and The She Rises Foundation.
The goal is to make sure that no child in Cocke County is cold this winter when they go to bed or go to school, and they are asking for donations of new Pajama tops and bottoms, Socks, Coats, Winter Hats and Gloves, plus hand and feet warmers. Donations can be dropped off at numerous locations. Those locations include
The Cocke County Emergency Operations Center located at the Cocke County Fairgrounds
The Cocke County Fire Department, also located at the fairgrounds
Cocke County Schools Family Resource Center: 305 Hendrick Drive in Newport
Newport Grammar School Family Resource Center: 301 College Street
The Mustard Seed: 331 Cosby Highway in Newport
The Parrottsville VFD: 2059 Old Parrottsville Highway
Donations are being accepted now through December 12.
