Man Wanted In Georgia Arrested In Newport

A man wanted in another state was arrested Sunday in Newport. Employees at the Econo-Lodge on west Hwy 25/70 called police Sunday night about a man possibly selling narcotics on their property. Police arrived and located the suspect, 32 year old Gary Elliot. He was found to be wanted in Georgia on felony probation warrants. Authorities in Georgia were contacted and began extradition proceedings to extradite Elliot back to the Peach State.
