3 Year Old Child Killed In Car Accident

A small child has died after being involved in an automobile accident Monday. According to the Cocke County Sheriff’s office, they and other first responders were dispatched to a residence on Ridgeland Drive in Newport just after 4pm Monday afternoon about an accident involving a 3 year old child.

Upon arrival officers found the child with his parents. The 3 year old appeared to be critically injured. First responders immediately began rendering first aid and the child was transported to the Newport Medical Center by Priority Ambulance, but passed away a short time later at the hospital.

Detectives were called to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The sheriff’s office says this is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released at a later time. Please say a prayer for that family.
