Beware Of Fake Postage Stamps This Holiday Season
Just when you thought that you didn’t have enough to worry about during the holiday season, comes news that there are counterfeit postage stamps making the rounds. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service says they are seeing a surge in counterfeit postage stamps sold online and the fake ones look so real, most people would not be able to tell they are not the real thing.
However, the postal system can detect the fake postage stamps. They also have implemented a policy that if they find a package with counterfeit stamps, that package will not be delivered and it will also not be returned to the sender. So, if you have counterfeit stamps on your Christmas mailings, those mailings will be destroyed and that could cause you to lose a lot of money.
The postal service says that if you see a website or someone on Facebook Marketplace saying they have postage stamps at a huge discount, beware, those are not real stamps. The USPS recommends that you buy stamps from approved postal providers only. You can see a list of providers near you by going to the website https://tools.usps.com/locations/
