Sevier County Teacher Suspended After Statutory Rape Charge

A teacher in Sevier County has been arrested and faces multiple charges after allegations surfaced about inappropriate activity with a student. The Sevier County School District says they were made aware of the situation between teacher Ashley Palmer and a student. After an initial investigation. the 42 year old teacher was suspended from her job at Sevier County Junior High. Palmer is being charged with two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and two counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s office says this is an ongoing investigation.
