Morristown Man Killed In Side By Side Accident

A Morristown man is dead after a side by side accident Christmas Day in Cocke County. According to witnesses, 20 year old Lucas Demayo was driving a 2016 Polaris side by side in the mud and loose dirt in the lake bottom of Douglas lake around 3:40 pm Christmas Day. This was in the vicinity of US 25E and Odell Rd. The female passenger on the side by side says Demayo hit something on the lake bottom and it caused the side by side to flip over. Demayo was thrown out of the vehicle which landed on top of him. Witnesses in the area were able to lift the side by side off of him, but he was pronounced dead by first responders at the scene. The passenger in the side by side was transported to the hospital to be examined for injuries.
