Sevier County Teen Crashes Into Building On Hartford Road
A Sevier County teen was arrested Sunday in Cocke County after leading a deputy on a chase which ended when the teen crashed into a building. 18 year old Payton Ball was driving a GMC Yukon recklessly on Wilton Springs Road Sunday night when he nearly struck a Cocke County deputy head on. That deputy turned around and pursued Ball, who would turn right onto Hartford Road. The pursuit ended when Ball crashed his GMC Yukon into a two story building at 2409 Hartford Road. Power lines were draped across the Yukon and there was the fear the building could collapse on top of it. Multiple law enforcement and fire department units arrived, including the Pittman Center Volunteer Fire Department, who had to help extricate Ball from the vehicle before the building could collapse on top of him.
Ball was removed from the vehicle, and charged with Reckless Endangerment, Evading Arrest, Reckless Driving, Driving without a license and no insurance. Additional charges are pending upon further investigation. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating that incident.
