Two People, One From Cocke County, Charged In Hamblen County Shooting
Two people, one from Cocke County, are facing charges after shooting at a car that had a one year old child inside. Hamblen County Sheriff Chad Mullins says this incident happened on Noes Chapel Road Monday when Tyrone Smith of Morristown, was driving and had a female passenger and a one-year-old child in the vehicle with him. A car approached them from behind, and Smith stated that the passenger in that vehicle began firing multiple rounds at Smith’s vehicle. Neither Tyrone Smith or either of his passengers were injured and there was no reported damage to his vehicle. Smith then attempted to follow the suspect’s vehicle which led onto Highway 160. That is when Smith called 911. He was connected with Jefferson County Dispatch and a pursuit by Jefferson County Deputies ensued. The suspects’ vehicle crashed during that pursuit and the two people in that vehicle were transported to Jefferson Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
The two suspects were 21 year old Gabriel Brown of Hamblen County, who did the shooting, and 26 year old Brianna Sloan of Cocke County. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office recovered a 9mm handgun, with no serial number, inside the vehicle along with multiple ski masks, and other related evidence that was found at or near the scene of the accident. In addition, two 9mm shell casings were recovered by investigators at the scene of the shooting in Hamblen County. Both Brown and Sloan are being charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault and three counts of Reckless Endangerment plus felony evading and drug charges. Brown is also charged with Felony Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
After both Brown and Sloan were cleared medically, they were transported to the Jefferson County Detention Center.
