Train Strikes Tractor Trailer In Greeneville
A truck driver escaped unharmed yesterday when a train ran into his tractor trailer in Greeneville. Police in Greeneville say the tractor trailer got stuck on the tracks at the West Irish Street crossing near Railroad Street. A train then struck the trailer part of the tractor trailer. The driver of the truck was not hurt as he was able to get out of the cab long before the train made impact. The train was able to stop about 300 feet after hitting the tractor trailer. The railroad crossing was closed for a time while crews cleared that scene. Police say that authorities were on the phone with Norfolk Southern officials to see if there were any trains in the area, when the accident happened.
