Two CCHS Students Charged With Bringing Weapon To School
Two Cocke County High School students were expelled from the school this week after one was found with a weapon. On Monday, School Resource Officer Deputy Brock Hannah, learned that a student was believed to be in possession of a handgun. Hannah, along with the Principal & Assistant Principal then removed that student from class. A bag belonging to that student was then searched and Deputy Hannah found an unloaded pellet gun.
The student was then searched to make sure he had no other weapons. No other weapons were found but a THC pen was found in that student’s back pocket. A second juvenile student was removed from class and searched to verify that he did not have any weapons on him and both juveniles were placed into custody and transported to Cocke County Juvenile Court. They were both charged with carrying a weapon on school property and were expelled from school property and school functions.
Cocke County High School was put on lockdown while the investigation was taking place. No students or staff were injured. The Tennessee Office of Homeland Security had investigators on site to assist the sheriff’s office in that investigation.
