Hometown Auto Sales Victim Of Vandalism
Hometown Auto Sales in Newport says they were the victim of vandalism. Management showed police a silver Chevy Impala parked on the South side of the lot with a large hole in the trunk lid. Police say the hole resembled that of a possible gun slug. Police say the trunk lid appeared to be an entrance hole while another hole on the driver side of the rear fender area was the exit.
A second Chevy Impala parked next to the first Impala also had what looked to be a hole from the same projectile in the right rear body trim. Police note that the holes all lined up and gave an estimated trajectory that indicated the projectile may have come from an area behind the car lot. The responding officer searched that area but could not find evidence of a gunshot. Dispatch records also did note a gunshot in that area over the past few days. Hometown auto Sales estimated their damage to be between $8,000 and $10,000.
