Woman Forced Into Car Then Nearly Run Over
Over the long holiday weekend it was not a good time for a Newport woman after a man attempted run over her with his car. Deputies were dispatched to the Wiley Town Road area about a man trying to run over a woman. Police spoke with Mandy Turner who stated that Eric Click had come to her mother’s residence to pick her up but she did not want to go with him…he then opened the driver door, knocking her to the ground, he then picked her up, shoved her against the mobile home, then forced her into the car. When she tried to call 911, he grabbed her phone and broke it. Just before Hwy 25-70, Turner was able to escape out of the vehicle…it was then that Click attempted to run her over, telling her he would kill her if she did not get back in the vehicle. Deputies noticed that Turner had numerous marks on her arms, back and legs as a result of the domestic assault. Click was arrested and inside the vehicle deputies found over 31 grams of methamphetamine, baggies, syringes and a set of scales. At the jail, Click was found to be in possession of 5 counterfeit $100 bills, all with the same serial number. Eric Click now faces numerous charges including aggravated domestic assault and aggravated kidnapping, plus drug charges.
