County Commision Calls Meeting Tuesday Over Recent Attacks

Some citizens of Cocke County gathererd in a courtroom on Tuesday to discuss the recent attacks that claimed the lives of two people, Tony Ahrens and Amber Miller.

A county commission called the meeting after those two people died in animal attacks in the area. Ahrens was attacked and killed on April 1st…Amber Miller was attacked on July 12th…both in the same location on Jimtown Road near Carnation Way. County Commissioner Forest Clevenger said that he is suggesting issuing fines on people with aggressive and dangerous pets, in order to discourage people from raising aggressive animals. He also said the fines would hold pet owners more accountable. Charles Owensby reported the first attack to authorities on April 1st…. then last week, was arrested on a schedule VI drug charge. While searching the property of his ex-wife in the Edwina community, Cocke County Sheriff’s Office deputies took an aggressive dog into custody, plus took DNA from two other dogs. Owensby was released a couple days later after posting bail.

As we mentioned at 4 o’clock, the autopsy results have been released for Tony Ahrens, verifying that an animal attack was a contributing cause in his death. Autopsy results for Amber Miller have not been released yet.
