Greene County Church Destroyed By Fire

In the midst of all the rain yesterday, a church was destroyed by…fire. The Riverview Community Seventh Day Adventist Church in Greene County is reported as a total loss following a fire that was called in around 4pm Tuesday afternoon. The South Greene Volunteer Fire Department and Greene County Sheriff’s Department were the first to arrive on scene…but multiple fire departments responded to that blaze. By 8pm last night firefighters had that fire under control but that church building was destroyed. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the TBI’s Bomb and Arson Division, and the ATF have been called in to investigate the cause of the fire as a matter of procedure.
