Man Who Robbed and Fired Shots At Convenience Store In 2019 Sentenced

A man who robbed then took a convenience store employee hostage in Johnson City back in 2019 has been sentenced. Back on July 28, 2019, 37 year old Marc Kristopher Skeen of Limestone, TN pulled up to the Stop In Market on S. Roan Street, in Johnson City As he arrived, he discharged a firearm through his vehicle’s windshield…. then exited his car, fired two more rounds through the glass door of the convenience store. Officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to the location and Skeen took the convenience store clerk hostage, which resulted in a 6-hour standoff with police. During the standoff, Skeen forced the hostage to provide him with beer and cigarettes from the store. He would later release the hostage without injury. On Thursday in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee in Greeneville…judge Clifton L. Corker sentenced Skeen to 245 months or just under 20 1/2 years in prison plus a five year term of supervised release to follow. Back in June, Skeen had plead guilty to robbing the convenience store and discharging a weapon in the commission of that robbery.
