IDP To Re-Apply For Grant

Earlier this week, the Newport/Cocke County Industrial Development Board met and approved a resolution allowing the IDB to apply for a Tennessee Site Development Grant…which would make improvements to the Smoky Mountain Innovation Park of Cocke County that is currently under construction. The grant would provide funding up to $1,000,000 with a match from the board of as little as 5%. The IDB had applied for that same grant earlier this year, but since they did not “own” the site, their application was denied. However, the IDB now owns the site where the Innovation Park is being built, so they will now re-apply.
