Local National Cemetery Seeking Donations For Christmas Wreaths
“Wreaths Across America,” which began in 1992 to honor veterans buried in Arlington National Cemetery…has inspired the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association to begin “A Christmas Gift of Remembrance.” “Wreaths Across America” places Christmas wreaths on the graves of all the veterans who served this country. The project “A Christmas Gift Of Remembrance” looks to place wreaths on all of the more than 2,000 veterans graves located in the Andrew Johnson National Cemetary in Greeneville. The Friends of the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site are raising money to purchase those wreaths at a cost of $8.50 each. To learn how you can donate, visit the website andrewjohnsonheritage.org.
National Wreaths Across America Day is December 18. A ceremony will be held at 11:30 that morning at the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.
