Greenville Police Arrest Man Wanted For Rape

Greeneville police arrested a man on Sunday who was wanted on a rape charge. Police responded to the Lee’s Food Mart on west Andrew Johnson Highway about a man dressed as a cowboy threatening to kill everyone in the store. He was carrying a lasso and also demanded the cashier give him some food. That man identified as 28 year old Arthur Smith of Maynardsville was found sitting behind the store. He told police he was hungry and just wanted something to eat. A check of Smith found that he was wanted for felony rape with a knife in Monroe County, TN. He was taken into custody to await extradition.
