TBI Investigating Officer Involved Shooting In Hawkins County

The TBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Hawkins County. According to the TBI…a Rogersville police officer spotted a truck late Friday night that was the subject of a Be On The Lookout Order out of Hamblen County. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver of that truck instead attempted to flee by doing a u-turn but lost control and crashed into a house. The officer exited his vehicle to approach the truck, but the driver of the truck went into reverse and crashed into the police cruiser, then turned his truck in the direction of the officer and drove towards him. That is when the officer fired his weapon into the truck, striking the suspect. The suspect who was not identified was taken to a local hospital for medical care. The TBI is interviewing witnesses and going over evidence to make sure the officers shooting was justified.
