Morristown Man Scammed
You cannot be too careful about where you go on the internet these days. A Morristown man is a good example of this. Justin Cubr of Morristown thought he was applying for a loan online with the website “SpeedyCash”. He gave his banking information to a man named John Morris…who spoke with a foreign accent. The John Morris individual made four (4) deposits to Cubr’s bank account via mobile deposit and then directed Cubr to purchase Visa Vanilla gift cards and send back pictures of the numbers from the back of the cards. Those deposits totaled up to nearly $7,000.
The deposits made by the suspect claiming to be John Morris came back as fraudulent after Cubr had purchased the gift cards. His bank account is now overdrawn and the bank has locked his account.
