Morristown Adjusts Mileage Requirement For Police Officers

The Morristown City Council this week amended a qualification for Police officers in the city. Prior to the change, any officer with the Morristown police department had to live within 30 miles of the city limits. The council by a unanimous vote has now stretched that to a 40 mile limit. The city says any new hire who is not in compliance with that rule will have 180 days to rectify that situation. The city stated they made that change to help attract candidates for hire as they have had a difficult time lately recruiting new officers.
