200 Jobs Coming To Morristown
More jobs are coming to Morristown. In a switch, a manufacturer is moving jobs from China to the US and East Tennessee. Greenworks Commercial, which makes battery-operated power equipment using lithium-ion batteries is moving part of its operation to Morristown. That move will bring 200 jobs to the area and Greenworks will also be investing about $20 million in the area as well. Greenworks will be using the old General Electric plant to start their operations…a 181,000 square foot manufacturing facility producing commercial ride-on vehicles and mowers and technologically advanced commercial-grade batteries. Morristown is already home to around 100 manufacturers. The Greenworks facility is expected to crank up their operations in the spring of 2022.
Many residents in Cocke County and Jefferson County make the trek into Morristown for their jobs. In fact, the president of Morristown’s Chamber of Commerce estimates that 55% of the workforce in Morristown comes from surrounding counties….including Cocke, Jefferson, Sevier, Greene, Grainger, Hawkins and even Knox County.
