Cocke County Family Resource Center Receives Huge Donation
Earlier today, Ole Smoky Moonshine made a big investment in Cocke County with a large donation to the Cocke County Family Resource Center with Cocke County Schools. This morning at the Cocke County High School, representatives from Ole Smoky presented a check for $50,000 to Resource director Diana Samples. She stated since the center has no budget, it exists on donations alone. Those donations help the center identify outside barriers that are keeping children from learning, whether it be not enough food to eat, transportation issues getting to school, clothing and a multitude of others. For example, A recent large donation helped the resource center purchase storage units they have turned into pantries near some area schools where there is a need for the students. Donations have helped the resource center buy sets of tires for student’s family’s vehicles to help them get to school.
Diana Samples, who is in her third year as director stated that the generous donation from Ole Smoky Moonshine will make a big difference in what the resource center can do for the county’s students in need. The director of Newport operations for Ole Smoky…Jamie Chen stated that this was a way for Ole Smoky to give back to the community after the support they have received in Newport and Cocke County. If you would like to make a donation to the Cocke County Family Resource Center, donations can be sent to the Resource Center at 305 Hedrick Drive in Newport.
