Christmas Day Assault

Christmas Day, Cocke County deputies were dispatched to a home on Lower English Creek Road about a domestic dispute. 36 year old April Burgess told deputies that her boyfriend, 43 year old Kenneth Ramsey had assaulted her. Burgess stated that during an argument Ramsey grabbed her around the neck, breaking her necklace. She stated that Ramsey then went under the back porch and tried to hang himself. Ramsey denied that he tried to hang himself although police could see a red line mark around his neck from a possible rope burn…a pink rope was found in the area of the back porch. Ramsey also denied laying hands on Burgess. However Burgess had red marks on her chest where she stated that Ramsey had grabbed her. Kenneth Ramsey was arrested and charged with simple assault and battery.
