Deputies Respond To A Stabbing In Cosby

Cocke County Deputies were dispatched early Wednesday morning in reference to a stabbing in Cosby. Police went to the home on Tobes Creek Road and found 55 year old R.B. Toby with a knife wound to the stomach. Toby told police that he was lying on the couch when 43 year old Misty Rodriguez of Hartford accused him of taking her Xanax and then stabbed him. Officers observed the 2 inch knife wound in his abdomen. When asked where the knife was, Toby told them he got it away from Rodriguez and threw it down a steep embankment. Due to the steep terrain deputies were not able to retrieve the knife. Rodriguez stated that Toby is crazy and she is afraid of him that’s why she had the knife. Misty Rodriguez was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault. Toby who originally declined medical treatment agreed to go with EMS…he was then airlifted to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville to have his wound evaluated.
