Two Women Lose Money In Apartment Fraud

Two young women in Morristown have become the victims of fraud. Mikayla Page and Mary Rucker told police that they had found an apartment for rent on Facebook Marketplace. They received a code to get inside the apartment and confirmed to the seller they wanted it. They received an application, filled it out and sent money for a security deposit and rent totaling $1150 through Cash App. The victims stated they did not know the name of the seller and that he had told them to send the money to his wife “Kyla.” ..after doing so they began moving in on Saturday. After they started moving in more people started showing up to view the apartment. Rucker & Page stated they went through Stevens Realty who the apartment was supposed to be rented by, but Stevens Realty had no record of their application. The post on Facebook Marketplace has now been taken down.
