Cooling Centers Open In Cocke County

With the heat cranking up again this week, the county has several “cooling” stations that are open in the heat of the day to help you cope if you do not have air conditioning. Those cooling centers are in the Newport Community Center gymnasium, The Cosby Volunteer Fire Department next to the Cosby High School, and the Grassy Fork Volunteer Fire Department next to the Grassy Fork School. There is bottled water on hand at each of those locations and a place for you to get out of the heat. Those cooling centers are open this week from 11am-4pm…today through Friday.
