Traffic Stop Leads To Arrrest

While making a traffic stop at Knowles Market, Newport police observed a black GMC Yukon come to a stop on Cody Street, then accelerate rapidly onto North Street traveling southbound. The Yukon squealed tires and spun sideways as it sped away. Another officer who was on scene followed the Yukon as it turned onto Red Oak Avenue and pulled into a driveway. The driver refused orders to stop and went into the house closing the door on police and refusing to come out. The woman was identified as 42 year old Charlotte Leibrock…she continued to refuse to speak with officers…until twenty five minutes later when a tow truck came to take the vehicle. At that time Leibrock exited the home but attempted to re-enter when she was told she was under arrest. After a brief struggle, Leibrock was taken into custody. She was charged with reckless driving and evading arrest.
