Today Is Election Day

Besides being the election today for federal and state offices, this election is the general election for county offices. Most of the county offices are already decided as the winners from May’s primary are running unopposed. Those include County Trustee, County Clerk, Circuit Court Clerk Sessions Court Clerk and Register of Deeds. However, County Mayor and County Sheriff have both republican and independents on the ballot. For sheriff, CJ Ball is the republican with John Carrell being the independent candidate. For county mayor, you will find Rob Mathis on the ballot as the republican and CJ Blazer and Casey Jones as the independent candidates.

There are several challengers for seats on the CLB…they include both posts in the 1st district as well as posts in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th districts. There are a couple road commissioner districts that have contested races as well. Those are in districts 2 & 7. And three districts will have a decision to make for Constable as well.
