Tennessee Supreme Court Selects New Attorney General
The state of Tennessee has a new attorney general. On Wednesday the Tennessee Supreme Court selected former chief deputy attorney general Jonathan Skrmetti to be the state’s top law enforcement official. Skrmetti was the Chief Deputy Attorney General from 2018 to 2021, and managed around 160 attorneys in 15 litigating divisions. He has been the chief counsel for governor Bill Lee since December of 2021. Skrmetti will be the 28th state attorney general replacing Herbert Slatery who chose not to serve another 8 year term.
