Morristown Teen Killed In Car Accident
A Morristown teenager is dead after being killed in a car accident early Saturday morning. According to police, around 12:45 am 18 year old Isabella Martinez was traveling in a car being driven by 23 year old Dominick Cornacchia, who was driving on a suspended license. He was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on east Morris boulevard when a Ford F150 began to pull out from the Waffle House parking lot near College Square Mall. Cornacchia hit the brakes and attempted to swerve to the left, but with his high speed, that put the vehicle into a spin and he then struck the Ford F150 pickup that was in the turning lane of the highway. Neither Martinez nor Cornacchia were wearing seat belts and were both injured along with the driver of the F150. Martinez was transported to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, but died from her injuries about 7 hours later. The driver of the pickup was also transported to the UT Medical Center as well with serious injuries. Police suspect that Cornacchia, who was also seriously injured was under the influence. A charge of reckless driving is pending against him as well as other charges pending results of a blood alcohol test.
