Newport Man Assaulted By His Father

A Newport man was arrested on Monday after he assaulted his father. The victim told police that he was working on his pool Monday morning when 34 year old Brendan Clayton walked up behind him and struck him in the head causing the victim to fall into the pool. Officers noted a red mark on the back of teh man’s head where he had been struck. Clayton had fled the scene before police arrived, but returned to his father’s residence Monday evening where he was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault.
