Third Fatal Accident In Morristown
Another fatal accident in Morristown, this one claiming the life of a Cocke County man. It happened Thursday near interstate 81’s exit 12 on Hwy 160. Police say that 52 year old Brian Marcum of Bybee was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Hwy 160 when he spotted a semi truck hauling two trailers in front of him crossing the intersection. Marcum braked and skidded but he struck the drivers’ side of the second trailer. First responders gave CPR but he had injuries that were not survivable and died on the scene. Marcum, who was a teacher at Morristown Hamblen West High School, was wearing a helmet. The driver of the semi was not injured. This makes the third fatal accident in Morristown in less than two weeks. On April 13th an 18 year old girl was killed in an accident on Morris Blvd and an 18 month old toddler was killed last Saturday night in a hit and run accident when a man drove a car into a home.
