Newport Police Called To Lowe’s For 2 Separate Incidents
Newport police arrested a man Saturday night for using a slingshot. The original call was about a man harassing customers in the parking lot of Lowe’s in Newport. A man told police that the suspect approached he and his girlfriend, yelled at them and then chased after them as they left the parking lot. The same suspect was then spotted behind Marshal’s shooting a slingshot. Police came into contact with the suspect, 35 year old Casey Nagy who was under the influence of methamphetamine. Nagy told police he was looking for his girlfriend and believed that every car that went by contained her. His girlfriend however was in the Cocke County jail. Nagy also claimed that people were after him and trying to hurt him. He was placed under arrest charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
Police are also investigating a theft at Lowe’s.
