Mathis And Ball Take Oaths Thursday Morning
Tomorrow morning at 9am, Cocke County will get a new county mayor and a new sheriff. Rob Mathis and CJ Ball will be sworn in to their new posts Thursday morning in a ceremony taking place on the courthouse lawn. Rob Mathis scored a strong victory over CLB member Clay Blazer in the county mayor’s race back on August 4th while CJ Ball defeated former Cocke County Chief Deputy John Carrell in the race to replace Armando Fontes as sheriff. For Fontes, today will be his final day on the job as county sheriff, a post he has held for the last 12 years.
Also taking over their new jobs tomorrow morning will be new County Trustee Mitch Fine, and new Sessions Court Clerk Brenda Ramsey. The swearing in ceremony will be tomorrow morning, September 1st, on the Cocke County courthouse lawn.
