New Camera Technology for Jefferson County Schools
Jefferson County schools have launched a new tool to help keep schools safer this year. New video technology that was purchased by the county will allow the E-911 center to view cameras at all 13 schools in Jefferson County. The county had cameras already in place at all of those schools, but this video technology allows E911 operators to access video of any camera at any of the schools almost immediately should a call come in with an emergency at a school. There are more than 1,000 cameras total throughout the school system. The technology cost the county $300,000 and all E-911 dispatchers are being trained on how to use it. Blount County is currently using the same technology in their schools.
