Escaped Inmate Captured
One of the inmates of the Cocke County Jail, that escaped last Friday while working on the litter crew, has been captured. Sheriff CJ Ball says that Christopher Lee Webb was captured near Exit 8 on interstate 81. Webb was taken to the Jefferson County sheriff’s office in Dandridge for holding. He will be transferred back to the Cocke County Jail. The US Marshals Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force assisted in the capture of Webb. Ball says that the Morristown Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office, White Pine Police Department, Newport Police Department and Sevier County Sheriffs Office along with the TBI assisted in the finding of Chris Webb. Webb, along with Eric Ballard, escaped while they were working on the litter crew along Industrial Road just off Hwy 25E. Ballard remains at large. Anyone with information into the whereabouts of Eric Ballard should call the Cocke County Sheriff’s office.
