Gas Prices Continue To Fall
Gas price below $3 a gallon??…actually saw that this weekend in Newport. Gas prices are continuing to tumble…in Cocke County right now the average price for gas is $3.05…the lowest price being $2.98. Now out in west Tennessee and in middle Tennessee prices below $3 are becoming the norm. Stations in Chattanooga are also below $3…one station in that area selling gas right now for $2.79.
Elsewhere in this area…prices continue to be high in some counties. Hamblen County has some of the highest prices with an average of $3.33. Greene County has some of the lowest with stations charging an average of $2.98. Jefferson County is around $3.17 and Sevier County at $3.02.
As of this morning the statewide average price is $3.22. That ranks 6th lowest in the nation. Mississippi has the lowest average price for gas at $3.10 for a gallon of regular. The highest…why California of course…at $5.44. That’s 19 cents higher than Hawaii who sits second highest at $5.26. Those are the only two states with gas prices north of 5 dollars a gallon.
