Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest

Police arrested a man in Newport Friday evening after they found drugs in his car. 36 year old Edgar Jenkins was driving a Kia Soul and was pulled over on Cosby Hwy near Interstate 40 for a normal traffic stop. However Jenkins was acting nervous and trying to hide something with his right hand. A search of the vehicle turned up over 5 grams of cocaine. Jenkins was also in possession of a large amount of cash. He was charged with manufacture sale or delivery of schedule II narcotics as well as possession of schedule II.
