Man Strikes Girlfriend With His Car

A woman was injured over the weekend after her boyfriend hit her with his car. It happened at the FastStop on Hwy 25E just north of I-81 in Hamblen County. 29 year old Kelsey Key of Johnson City stated she and her boyfriend, 38 year old Justin Wells of Jonesborough were arguing about purchasing alcohol. According Kelsey and Key and witnesses, Wells got back into their car and locked the doors keeping Key from getting back in. Key then stood in front of the vehicle so Wells could not leave without her. That’s when Wells put the car in drive and drove forward striking his girlfriend. Kelsey Key was knocked to the ground by the car causing a laceration to her head. Officers smelled marijuana on Wells and found 2.25 grams inside his vehicle. Wells was taken into custody and charged with aggravated domestic assault and schedule VI narcotics possession.
