Traffic Accident Causes a Traffic Headache

A traffic accident caused a traffic headache on the north side of Newport Sunday. Police say a Honda sedan driven by 46 year old Misty Cheek ran off the road and struck a utility pole. That pole fell and took two others with it. That caused a nightmare for not just people getting out of church and going into Newport and out of Newport, but also for Newport Utilities. It took crews 4 hours to make the necessary repairs to the utility poles. For motorists, it meant driving several miles out of their way to get to and from Parrottsville…as authorities were advising people to stay clear of North Street. Police found that Misty Cheek was driving under the influence and a pipe to smoke illegal narcotics was found in her backseat. As for Newport Utilities , they estimated that Cheek’s accident caused about $7,500 in damages.
