Man Suspected Of Throwing Items Onto Annex Rooftop
A man was arrested Sunday night after he was suspected of throwing items onto the roof of the Cocke County Jail Annex building. Corrections officer Benjamin Burns told Newport police officers he was doing a perimeter search of the exterior of the building after hearing something tossed onto the roof. Police then spotted 20 year old Jeremiah Adams walking across the street towards Manes Funeral Home. Adams was stopped in that parking lot. Adams was in possession of several syringes, used narcotics baggies, and a cellophane wrapper containing 0.5 grams of suspected meth. Video footage showed Adams walking away from the Annex building shortly after the noise was heard on the roof. Cocke County jail staff located multiple bags of wrapped tobacco, and a band of wooden pencils on the rooftop of the Annex, Jeremiah Adams was charged with possession of schedule II and drug paraphernalia.
