Last Day To Early Vote
Today is the final day to take advantage of early voting. So far, 3,734 Cocke County residents have cast their votes early. That pretty much mirrors the last election in August when just over 4,000 voted early. On the ballot are the Newport and Parrottsville city elections. Eight people are running for alderman in Newport for five city council positions.
This is also the state election for governor and state senate and house races. It’s also the federal mid-term election. The state of Tennessee only has the US House race as no US Senators are up for re-election this year. The big item on the ballot are four state constitution amendments. You can look at a sample ballot at CockeCountyElection.org.
If you do not vote early today, you will have to cast your ballot at your local precinct on election day next Tuesday, November 8th. Polls will be open from 9am-8pm. The early voting site is open today in the Western Plaza from 9am-5pm.
